Time to get real here. I have struggled with my body image most of my life. Name a diet technique out there and I’ve tried  it. For the last several years I have on again and off again (reasoning later) counted calories and/or macros. I was always really good about it for a couple three weeks and then would “fall off the wagon”. More recently I started looking more internal and seeing if I was enjoying my life the way that I wanted to. My answer when I was counting and weighing and measuring everything I ate? No. I want to be able to fuel my body the way it needs without counting and obsessing over my food.

 

Bring in Megan Kober at The Nutrition Addiction

First off, if you don’t want your blogger that you follow to be real and cuss. Don’t go to her site. Personally, I love how candid she is and real. She doesn’t give a crap about what she says as long as it is honest and what she believes. Which come on, respect for that there.

 

I have been following Megan off and on for a while and incorporated some of her advice into my macro counting meals. But that kinda defeated the point she was always trying to make with how to approach your nutrition.

 

Megan’s philosophy basically is that if you get the key nutrients protein, healthy fat, and fiber into each meal then you are on your way to good nutrition. Now that is the bare bones of it and if you want more info then head on over to her site The Nutrition Addiction for more info.

 

My new direction

With all that being said about Megan over there at her site, I have decided to fuck diets as she would say and start living life. I am sick of counting and just want to enjoy my food and be healthy. Hopefully I will start to re-learn my body’s needs and be healthy without the help of an app or obsessing over every little morsel I put into my mouth and how it will “derail” my good work.

 

Shrimp Fajita Bowl

This recipe is framed after Megan’s PHFF concept and her #babebowl idea. Lots of healthy fat, fiber, and protein. It was super filling and amazingly tasty.

Shrimp fajita bowl. A delicious and healthy lunch recipe that is easy to meal prep for. Meal prep buffet style for this particular lunch and you are ready for a quick and healthy lunch salad!

Shrimp Fajita Bowl

Serves 1
Meal type Lunch, Salad
Misc Pre-preparable, Serve Cold

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Large avocado (sliced)
  • 3 cups Romaine Lettuce blend (I like buying the bagged stuff to make it easier to throw together quickly)
  • 1/4 Sliced Pepper (I use a variety)
  • 6 Cherry Tomatoes
  • 2 heaped tablespoons Pico de Gallo
  • 3-4oz Fajita Shrimp (prep this before with your favorite fajita seasoning)
  • 2 tablespoons Yogurt Ranch (Bolthouse farms)
  • 1 Mini cucumber (sliced)

Directions

Step 1
Mix all together and eat!
