It is that time of year again to start thinking of the healthy goals that I have for the upcoming year. This year however is going to be a little bit different for me since I am pregnant and am due in May!
Goals for 2018:
Staying active as my body allows throughout the rest of my pregnancy.
I am currently 19 weeks pregnant so with 21 weeks left there abouts I have a lot of time on my hands. I have been feeling great and have gotten back into running and working out during the past couple of weeks. My plan for the next 5 months or so is to listen to my body. Run, walk, strength train and stretch as I feel comfortable doing with the growing and changing of my body.
Run my first 5k postpartum in September.
Not sure which race this will be locally but the end of September usually holds a couple of different races and one of them is the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. More than likely this will be the race I do.
Run my first postpartum half marathon October 28th.
The half marathon I’m looking at/setting my goal for is the Air Capital Half marathon here in Wichita. I haven’t run this one before but it is a fairly small race limiting the race size to 200 people. This will be approximately 5 months postpartum and will hopefully give me the time I need to return to half marathon shape/ability!
1000 Miles in 2018
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to do the 2018 miles in 2018 challenge but with the baby on the way I need to be realistic and realize that this just isn’t in the books for this year…maybe 2019 🙂 However, I would like to set the goal for 1000 miles in 2018. This goal will be a little up in the air though depending on how the end of my pregnancy goes and how soon I am able to get back to running safely postpartum.
