I have been a little MIA the past couple of months and I am so sorry!! Things have taken a turn for the busy!!
The first big announcement is that I am pregnant! We are expecting our first non-fur child in May!
On top of the pregnancy news we have been super busy! We travelled to Florida to visit my mom in September for our 4 year anniversary. Plus, on top of all of that both of us started new full time jobs. I am now at a private orthopedic practice as a Physical Therapist and John is part of a new transitions team for his company that goes in and helps turn non-profitable companies around.
What can I say, when we decide to make changes we go BIG!!! With all of that change I needed to set some things aside for a while to get into a new routine and get used to things again. But, I am back and ready to rock!
First Trimester FAQ
I have to admit that the thought of writing on here made me really nervous when we hadn’t shared our news yet. I was so excited and I was afraid that I would let it slip!!
How far along are you?
I am 13 weeks today! (Thursday)

When are you due?
May 24, 2018
What is really cool about this is my dad’s birthday is May of 1958, I’m May of 1988, and this baby will more than likely be May of 2018. A neat 30 year difference between each!
Are you showing yet?
Yes!! I started showing a little bit a couple of weeks ago. I took the advice of my big sister and went ahead and got some maternity pants for work and jeans etc. I didn’t want to be uncomfortable at all. However, I’m not quite big enough yet and do have to wear a belt to keep them up. BUT, I am to the point where my regular pants won’t button so it is a weird in between stage right now!
How have you been feeling? Have you had any aversions or cravings?
Meh….that’s been my response to most people with this question. I have been completely exhausted. Therefore, try as I might working out has been pushed to the back. I would get home from work after a 10 hour day and barely have the energy to eat a small dinner. But, I am finally starting to get some energy back and this week/next week I plan on slowing starting to add some workouts back in.
Cravings have mostly been for fruit and some veggies with dip. I haven’t really noticed a big craving for one particular thing or anything weird yet. As for aversions, chicken. Which makes things really rough since that is about 85% of what we eat in our house. I have however slowly been adding it back in. As long as it is in a casserole etc I can tolerate it.
How have you been sleeping?
Not horrible. I do tend to wake up around 4:00 each morning which is a little frustrating since my alarm goes off at 5:00. I keep thinking that I should just start getting up at 4:00 and getting my workout in for the day. However, I haven’t brought myself to do that yet. I haven’t had the need to get up a lot to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night consistently yet…I know that it is coming.
I love how your body naturally adapts and changes things for you. For example, I am predominately a right side or halfway on the stomach sleeper typically. However, during pregnancy it is advised to sleep on your left side due to keeping blood flow going appropriately and to not let the uterus sit on the liver. I have naturally started sleeping on my left side all of a sudden. So neat!
